Hi All,
an update,
I had a lovely call from my Rhuemmy nurse, a different one that i have never spoken to before. She has spoken to my GP who is also quite concerned about me, I am going for another Depo injection monday if there has been no improvement over the weekend. They are also going to introduce Oramorph again to see if it helps.
Here's looking to getting some pain relief and peace of mind, cos I certainly need it right now.
Thank you for listening to my moans and being supportive, I very much appreciate you all
Trace xx

Hi Tracey, sorry to raed about what you are going through. It is awful that in this day and age or maybe because of it, we have to stamp our feet to get what we need. It sounds like you have a good and sypathetic rheummy nurse and gp though. I hope the further depo injection and oromomorph helps. If you are not fit for work when the next term starts can you go off sick until you feel much better and the humira starts to work.
All best wishes
Bevxx

Hi Tracey I am so sorry to hear about the terrible time you have had recently. Don't ever feel that you are being a problem moaning. If it helps do it. You must keep ringing rheumatology until you get sorted. I hope humira does it for you. It certainly seems to work for a lot of people but because we are all so different you won't know until you try it. Poor lass, you are having a hard time. I am concerned about your emotional state. Go back to your GP and tell them what you have said on here. If you are depressed this won't help with your pain and you might need a little something to help you through this difficult stage. I do hope you are feeling better by now and keep posting. We are always here to listen and try to help in some small way. Sheila x P.S. to Jean. Why am I not surprised!!!!

UPDATE!!!
Hi All,
Firstly, thank you all for your kind words of support, I don't know how I would cope without the forum and the great support and sincere wishes of such kind people that it brings.
I went back to my GP today as my feet are 'still' really painful and am worried about returning to work next week, he gave me another Depo injection which we discussed at length due to he concerns of the affects it may have long term. The specialist 'eventually' spoke to my GP last week and she is sending me for a Bone density Scan. Please can anyone tell me what this entails? I am thinking MRI type of procedure?
She also asked him if I was on tablets to protect my bones.
He (GP) is quite concerned about me. I am alos now on Oramorph for break through pain Arrrgggghhhh!!
I then this afternoon had a call from my Rhuemmy nurse to warn me that the Specialist has decided to put me on Enbrel now. As she feels this will work better for me.
Sheila, I am on Citilopram (anti-depressants) and have been since Feb-ish.
Trace xx
Thanks again to you all x

Hi Tracy,
Hope the depo injection works well for you, but yes, the steroids do put us at risk of osteoporosis. The bone density scan is nothing to worry about at all, you just lie down without even hhaving to get undressed and it's like a normal x-ray, only takes a few minutes. Don't forget to rest for a couple of days to let the depo have the best chance of working.
Love Doreen xx

Thanks Doreen, I didn't know that rest is the best way to help the injection work best, thanks for letting me know. Trace x

Tracy
I am pleased that you are now moving forward with your treatment. It is a shame you have had to be in so much pain for people to take notice. As Doreen suggests, it is really important that you now rest so that the depo works.
I have been on Enbrel and I hope it is the drug that will work for you.
I don't know what your job position is but I would perhaps think about staying off work for a little longer as you will only make yourself worse. A letter from your rheumy team telling your employer about your current health may help.
Keep positive and I hope that the bone scan goes well and that the Enbrel arrives quickly.

Hi Trace
Really pleased your team are really looking after you now, thank goodness.
I take Adcal chewable tablets to help prevent osteoporosis, as Doreen says the scan is a nothing so don t worry. It looks like you will get started on Enbrel fairly soon, and good to know you now have some effective pain relief to keep you going in the meantime.

Hello Trace,
What a good update. Your consultant and GP are working hard together with you now. I had a bone scan, it is painless you lie on the bed , keep clothes on, and a scan scans you , they even gave me the results of way of graph at the time. I did take adcal for this but my Doc stopped them beginning of this year as he said on there own they are not effective ! ! Do not worry about this Trace.
Glad you had a depo, I do hope it kicks in for you, remember you should rest I belive for 48 hours for it to give it its best effect. I am not allowed a depo as I have another counsel session as you will see I was advised to stop humira. ugh. I am sick and fed up with it all, like you I also do take anti depressants for about a year now, but I still feel quite low.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Jackie, my Rheummy nurse wanted to sign me off till I start on the new treatment, however, my employers are not very nice or understanding. I work in Education, so the next couple of weeks is very paramount to get the new yr 7's settled. I feel the stress of being off would be just as bad as being at work in pain. Silly thing to say I know, but that is the climate we work and live in these days. I am presently having regular HR meetings about my sick record (22 days) since sept 2010!!!! YES, that is all!!! My Union is also involved with proceedings. I have been doing some house work today, not realising I needed to rest for the Depo to work more effectively, so will be doing very little tomorrow. I am taking my 16 yr old Son to pick up his GCSE results. So I am at his disposal for the day possibly take him out for dinner too. Thank you for putting my mind at rest about the bone scan, I knew you would lol. Rose, I can't shift my mind set at present either Best wishes to you all Trace xx

Hi Trace
Sorry I haven't responded to your post before - Talk Talk are having some mighty probs round here at the mo and it's hit and miss as to whether I can connect to the internet!
As everyone else has done, I would also like to reassure you about the Dexa scan - just like an X-ray, so no prob.
Everything crossed for your son's GCSE results - enjoy your meal and some precious time together.
Much love Jeanxxxx
